Promote human resource cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore

(LĐXH)- “Vietnam suggests that Singapore consider officially accepting Vietnamese workers in the form of employment permit visas; expanding the professions that Singapore needs and strengthening cooperation in the supply of crew members for transport ships...".
This is one of the proposals made by Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) Le Van Thanh at a meeting with Mr. Zaqy Mohamad, Senior Minister of State in charge of Manpower and National Defense of Singapore, which took place on October 20, in Hanoi.
Welcoming Mr. Zaqy Mohamad to visit and work at MoLISA, Deputy Minister Le Van Thanh assessed that the Vietnam - Singapore strategic partnership is constantly being strengthened and developed, increasingly deepening.
"Currently, Singapore leads ASEAN and ranks 2nd in the world in terms of investment capital in Vietnam with 3,095 projects, total capital of 70.8 billion USD, accounting for 22.9% of total registered FDI capital.
Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIP) in the provinces of Binh Duong, Nghe An, Bac Ninh, Binh Dinh, Quang Ngai, Can Tho... are operating very . This opens up important opportunities in promoting human resource cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore in the direction of knowledge economic cooperation," he said.
The Deputy Minister also highly appreciated the two Memoranda of Understanding signed by the two sides within the framework of the official visit to Vietnam by Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
At the same time, he emphasized that the signing of the above two MoU is an important step in strengthening cooperation between the two countries, especially in the sectors of skills development and innovation.
Deputy Minister Le Van Thanh proposed that the two sides soon establish a joint working group to discuss and implement the two signed MoU.
Thanking Deputy Minister Le Van Thanh for taking the time to welcome, Mr. Zaqy Mohamad expressed his joy about the increasingly strong strategic partnership between the two countries.
Mr. Zaqy Mohamad said that during this trip he brought many Singaporean businesses to Vietnam to seek development opportunities as well as support areas that Vietnam is interested in.
He believes that signing the MoU will open up opportunities for workers to work in both countries.
Regarding the proposals of MoLISA leaders, he affirmed that within its capabilities, Singapore is ready to support and share experiences with Vietnam, especially related to high-quality human resource training and occupational safety and hygiene./.
