MoLISA, UNDP and DFAT signed cooperation agreement on poverty reduction
(LĐXH)- On February 28, in Hanoi, the National Office for Poverty Reduction (Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) held the signing ceremony of cooperation agreement on poverty reduction and introduced the UNDP-MoLISA-DFAT project: "Program development and policy consultation on multi-dimensional and sustainable poverty reduction, period 2021-2023".
The National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction in the 2021-2025 period has many very new core points compared to the previous 2016-2020 period.
The strategic implementation program focuses on investing in people, directly investing in and improving the capacity of the poor; clearly identify the causes of poverty in order to thoroughly solve the problems of the poor and poor areas.
“The method of supporting the poor has also changed. The program focuses on helping the poor solve the most important problems for them such as livelihood, vocational training, employment, and stable income” – Mr Thanh said.
UNDP Resident Representative in Vietnam Caitlin Wiesen said: “This project demonstrates UNDP's commitment to supporting the MoLISA in realizing the National Target Program vision on sustainable poverty reduction”.
Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Robyn Mudie added: “Australia commits to supporting sustainable and inclusive growth in Vietnam. Through cooperation, DFAT can recommend Vietnam to research, develop and implement creative and innovative solutions for sustainable poverty reduction”./.
