Promote comprehensive cooperation on labor, employment and social security between Vietnam and South Korea

(LĐXH) In order to enhance the cooperation on labor, employment, social security and promote the reception of Vietnamese laborers to South Korea under the Employment Permit Scheme (EPS), from March 16th to 18th 2017, Minister of Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung and his delegation paid a working visit to South Korea.
During the visit, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung worked with South Korean Ministry of Employment and Labor, met the President of the Korea-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Association and visited Vietnamese workers working in Korea under EPS program.

At the meeting, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung and South Korean Minister of Ministry of Employment and Labor Lee Ki Kweon agreed that the multi-comprehensive collaboration between the two countries is growing well, labor cooperation is enhanced in both width and depth.
During the working session, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung highly appreciated that leaders of the Ministry of Employment and Labor of South Korea have directed the development of labor-employment relations between the two ministries effectively. Recently, the two sides launched the Worknet Networking Development Project in Vietnam. Currently, South Korea has 107,000 Vietnamese there, including more than 40,000 employees under the EPS program.

Talking about the cooperation and strategic partnership between the two countries in recent years, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung affirmed that the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Viet Nam has always facilitated South Korean citizens in investing, working, studying and doing business in Vietnam. "The signing of the Regular Memorandum of Receiving Labor under the EPS program in May 2016 provided a solid foundation for furthering cooperation in the labor field between the two countries ..." - Minister Dao Ngoc Dung said.
South Korean Vice Minister of Employment and Labor, Koh Young - sun shared his appreciation on behalf of South Korean employers for the diligence, hard work and skill of Vietnamese workers. He emphasized: "Reducing the rate of workers' emigration is an important factor for South Korea to consider raising quotas for Vietnamese workers to work under the EPS Program in 2017 and the  next years…"
Leaders of the Ministry of Employment and Labor of South Korea acknowledged the difficulties of people in the central provinces of Vietnam affected by the environmental crisis in 2016 and said that they would consider positively to help workers in coastal districts in the four central provinces of Vietnam to participate in EPS Program.

The leaders of the two Ministries also proposed and discussed measures to create jobs for the number of trained and qualified workers. In the long term, sending and receiving labor between the two countries will focus on labor with professional qualifications in order to meet the human resources demand of each party.
Also in the working trip, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung took a visit to meet Vietnamese workers at the G.S.ACE Industry Co. factory in Hwaseong City, Gyeonggi Province. This is a factory which produces steel pipes, aluminum tubes and products for automobile, electronics, logistic industry. The Minister graciously inquired about the work, income and life of workers, directly visited and checked the food and living of Vietnamese workers, happy to see that they have an average income of $ 1,700 - $ 2,500 / month. Moreover, the factory also cover their fee for accommodation, spacious accommodation, and amusement parks.
Farewell to Vietnamese workers, the Minister instructed the workers to work hard, properly follow factory rules and regulations of the host country, perform the contract properly and return home in time when contract expiration comes.

In terms of occupational safety and health, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung and the delegation had a meeting with the President of the South Korea Labor Safety Association. Besides sharing experiences in occupational safety and health, the two sides discussed about the development of specific cooperation programs aimed at implementing collaborative research, building a culture of occupational safety, organizing conferences, seminars, collaborative activities on science and technology joint ...
In particular, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung emphasized the necessity of developing and applying labor standards for South Korean enterprises operating in Vietnam; training of staff, workers, workers on occupational safety and hygiene ... On the occasion of the working trip to South Korea, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung visited the Embassy of the Republic of Vietnam in South Korea, spoke with Ambassador Nguyen Vu Tu and his staff; met officials of Vietnam Labor Management Board in Korea. The Minister suggested that the Embassy would be a bridge to promote cooperation between Vietnam and Korea, actively support and facilitate the Vietnamese Labor Management Board in South Korea to fulfill its mission effectively.
