Nine-month unemployment rate posts at 2.35%

The unemployment rate of the working-age population was reported at 2.35% over the first nine months of this year, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

The national statistics agency said that the labour and employment situation in the third quarter of 2022 has continued to recover. The labour force, the number of working people and the average monthly income of employees all increased compared to the previous quarter and the same period last year.
The unemployment rate also decreased compared to the previous quarter and the same period last year. The unemployment rate of working age people in the third quarter of 2022 was estimated at 2.28%, down 0.04 percentage points compared to the previous quarter and down 1.70 percentage points over the same period last year.
The unemployment rate of working-age population was 2.35% in the first nine months of 2022, of which, the unemployment rate in urban areas was 2.88% and in rural areas 2.02%.
The country’s labour force aged 15 and over was estimated at 51.9 million people in the third quarter of 2022, up 0.2 million people compared to the previous quarter and up 2.8 million people over the same period last year./. NDO
