Minister Dao Ngoc Dung had a cordial meeting with Director of USAID

On August 22nd, at the Headquarters of the Ministry of Labour-Invalid and Social Affairs, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung had a meeting with Mr. Michael Greene - Director of United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
At the meeting, there were also representatives of International Cooperation Department, Inspection Department, the General Department of Vocational Training, Department for Social Evils Prevention, Children Care and Protection Bureau, Social Welfare Department, Legal Department.
Overview of the meeting
At the meeting, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung welcomed Mr. Michael Greene and colleagues to visit and work at the Ministry. The Minister appreciated the close cooperation, good between MOLISA and USAID last time in the fields of mutual interest. The minister said that USAID has implemented many projects and programs which were useful, effective and had a lot of good impressions to the Department of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs in Vietnam, namely: building institutional system of law related to labour, employment and society; promoting labour relations, labour inspection, occupational safety; supporting people with disabilities with the goal of improving health, promoting social integration and the rights of people with disabilities; coordinating with the Ministry of Justice and the Project Management Unit of the State Administration for comprehensive growth (GIG) deployed with the project with the aim of supporting growth, sustainable and far-reaching in the areas of trade, simultaneously addressing development issues concerning women, ethnic minorities and other groups vulnerable populations; vocational training - vocational education for workers in general and youth in particular; technical support to achieve the standards set by the International Labour Organisation ILO proposed; protecting, caring for children, especially those children with special circumstances difficulties.
Especially, on the work of helping disabled and vulnerable groups,  the Government of Vietnam is considered a priority task in the coming period. In addition to participating in the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Government of Vietnam has established the National Commission on Persons with Disabilities in 2015 to advice the Prime Minister to direct and coordinate between ministries , locals the issues related to the implementation of policies of people with disabilities. The Minister said that, next time, work support for people with disabilities and vulnerable groups will be the priorities of cooperation, implemented by both parties.
Mr. Michael Greene appreciated the warm welcome of Minister Dao Ngoc Dung for USAID delegation and hope that MOLISA and USAID will have a co-operation in depth in the future.
