Minister Dao Ngoc Dung: "Do not let workers infected with Covid-19"

As the outbreak of Covid-19 having a negative impact on the Vietnamese economy, Minister of Labor, War invalids and Social Affairs (Molisa) Dao Ngoc Dung expects strong measures against the deadly virus would prevent infections at industrial parks.
General Director of Samsung Vietnam Choi Joo Ho said the company, with 130,000 employees nationwide, has not reported any case of infection so far.
At Samsung Electronics Vietnam Thai Nguyen, which employs 54,000 workers, the company has set up 28 thermal cameras to check the body temperature of people passing by, Choi added.
Additionally, all 54,000 workers have their body temperature checked by Samsung’s own modern devices. The company also delivers leaflets and detailed instructions to each worker to prevent the infection.
“As the Vietnamese government is stepping up efforts against the outbreak, Samsung is determined to prevent Covid-19 from infiltrating its manufacturing facilities”, Choi stressed.
At South Korean-invested Alutec Vina, a company representative said they employ 1,650 workers, including 27 South Koreans. As of present, the company requires all workers and staff to wear face masks and undergo body temperature check.
Minister Dao Ngoc Dung said: “After the Government’s meeting, representatives of the Molisa and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor decided to visit Samsung Vietnam. This also demonstrates the cohesion between the government and businesses in fighting against epidemics of localities, especially labor-intensive corporations and FDI enterprises. The Government highly appreciates Samsung's contribution to the Vietnamese economy as well as job creation and care for Vietnamese workers”.
According to Minister Dao Ngoc Dung, Samsung's contribution to creating jobs and benefits for workers. Especially, many of Samsung's comments on the construction of the Labor Code roadmap have good values, such as minimum wage, overtime working hour, regulated subjects, social insurance, etc.
Commenting on the Covid-19 epidemic, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung said that the impact of the disease has a significant impact on society. Recently, the Government of Vietnam has done its best for the life and safety of the people. In that common spirit, Samsung Vietnam has a high sense of leadership and the epidemic prevention system, proactively establishing activities to effectively deal with the Covid-19 epidemic.
Minister Dao Ngoc Dung suggested that, in addition to further strengthening the already implemented epidemic prevention and control solutions, it is also necessary to pay attention to ensuring the daily life of workers such as eating, resting, taking care of children, ensure welfare for workers.
Tran Quoc To, Secretary of the Thai Nguyen Party Committee, said the province has 19 enterprises with hundreds of Chinese staff and workers. As a gateway province to Hanoi, Thai Nguyen has been allocating substantial financial amounts to purchase medical equipment and medicine to prevent possible spread of the outbreak. So far, there have not been any Covid-19 infections in Thai Nguyen province, where large scale industrial parks are located./.
