(LĐXH)- On March 30, the 27th ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Council meeting was held Cambodia and online in ASEAN member countries. Minister of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) Dao Ngoc Dung led the Vietnamese delegation to attend the virtual event.
The conference was attended by 10 ASEAN Ministers/leaders in charge of the Socio-Cultural Community, the ASEAN Secretary-General, the delegations of ASEAN members and the ASEAN Secretariat.
The conference expressed strong support for the theme chosen by Cambodia "ASEAN Action: Tackling Challenges Together" along with a series of initiatives launched this year, especially in the field of youth, sports, labour and enhancing entrepreneurship for women.
The Ministers highly appreciated the priorities and efforts of the Socio-Cultural Community in connecting people with people, putting people at the center of sustainable development and leaving no one behind.
The activities of the Socio-Cultural Community are increasingly substantive, closely aligned with international, regional and national priorities through the initiatives implemented in the Prevention Culture Master Plan, the Global Recovery Framework ASEAN or the Unified Strategy for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
In his speech, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung stressed that the efforts of the ASCC are testament to the protection of factors that promote economic and social development; and ensure the rights of workers in general and migrant workers in particular, thus building an open, adaptive society and eliminating existing inequalities in society.
He expressed his belief that ASEAN’s recent initiatives to promote the role of regional young people will contribute to building a cohesive and sustainable ASEAN Community.
He also shared Vietnam's efforts to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Vietnam has successfully implemented its vaccine strategy through the largest vaccination campaign ever, becoming one of the countries with the highest COVID-19 vaccine coverage rate in the world to date”, he said.
At the end of the meeting, the Ministers agreed on the content of the 27th ASCC Meeting Report to submit to the upcoming 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits that will take place in November 2022./.
