Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam gave milk to students in difficult circumstance in Dak Nong

(LĐXH) In November 19th, Vietnam Milk Joint Stock company (Vinamilk) co-operated with leaders of Dak Nong province to celebrate Vietnam Teachers’ Day (20.11.1982 - 20.11-2016) and encouraged teachers at Dak Plao secondary school and Quang Trung primary school in Dak Plao commune, Dak Giong district, Dak Nong province.

This activity was in the framework of ‘’National School Milk Program’’ which had been approved by the Government. Attending the program were Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, the delegation of Government Office, leaders of Dak Nong province, leaders of Vinamilk and the relevant departments,....
In this program, Vinamilk has awarded more than 6,000 boxes of milk for nearly 350 pupils of Quang Trung primary school, Dak Nong province, with a total value of nearly 200 million dong. The program was organized to bring a practical sense when aiming to bring millions of cups of milk to elementary children in Dak Nong province. Moreover, this activity also expressed the pioneering spirit of Dak Nong province in implementing government’s policy.
This activity also created prerequisites for implementing the local School Milk program in the future, in order to help children to drink milk with high standard of quality and hygiene. With goal of supporting children to develop physically and mentally better, the program has received positive response from the local to provide more opportunities for kids to drink milk in Dak Nong.

Besides that, the School Milk Program has also contributed to raise awareness of the community about the importance of drinking milk for the health and development of children. Moreover, their parents would feel secured of milk quality which children drank at school, as well as decreased milk cost at home.
Mrs.Bui Thi Huong, Vinamilk's Chief Executive Officer said: "Vinamilk has promoted the School Milk program for nearly 10 years, considered it as one of the most important activities of the company. Vinamilk's products have been studied meticulously about the additional micronutrients needed for school age, with the advice of many nutrition experts at home and abroad, to ensure that the students be given a full range of nutrients necessary during study time at the school. Vinamilk's greatest wish is that all children in Vietnam can drink milk every day, thereby improving people's physical stature in Vietnam for the better future."
In this occasion, Vinamilk also supported Dak Plao Secondary school, Dak Plao commune, Dak Giong district, Dak Nong province to build a new library (with value of nearly 100 millions dong), improve study conditions  and create opportunities for students to access more helpful knowledge from books and newspapers.
In the last 10 years, Vinamilk has deployed the School Milk program in Bac Ninh, Ba Ria Vung Tau, Dong Nai,.... In 2016, this company donated about 6 billion dong to 6 provinces including Ba Ria Vung Tau, Dong Nai, Khanh Hoa, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Bac Ninh to implement school Milk program. Furthermore, Vinamilk also contribute 1 billion dong for each of 14 provinces including Tuyen Quang, Lai Chau, Ha Giang, Dien Bien, Son La, Lao Cai, Cao Bang, Kon Tum, Hoa Binh, Bac Kan, Lang Son, Yen Bai , Gia Lai, Ninh Thuan and (according to data reported by the working group of the United Nations and the Government of Vietnam on poverty reduction).

In conclusion, within the framework of School Milk program in 2016, Vinamilk contributed about 20 billion dong, which is equal to nearly 4 million boxes of milk to kindergarten and primary school students in 20 provinces. From school year 2007-2008 (when Vinamilk started in collaboration with the provinces to implement the program) to the present, the number of students benefitting from the program is 308 thousand people with 92 billion dong of subsidized budget from Vinamilk.
